A Storm Brings a Gift

After a couple of hours of torrential wind and rain that nearly pulled one of our trees out of the ground, tore the tarp on our pergola, ripped a shutter off our house, threw our front door wreath into the neighbor’s yard, knocked the power out a few times, and threatened to turn into a tornado, we got this:

EyeClops!

The EyeClops Bionicam is a handheld electronic microsope that we got for me Kyle for Christmas. It has a small screen built in, or you can hook it directly to the TV. You can capture still images or movies on the included USB stick and transfer them to the computer.

Last night we had some fun taking some pictures of various things around the house. Here are a few samples:

Taking the long way

On the way back home from Springfield, we had beautiful weather and a little extra time, so we decided to take the scenic route. We drove along old route 66 for part of the way, went through towns with names like “Farmer City” and “Cornland” and stayed off the interstate the whole way. It took longer to get home, but it was well worth the extra time.

At one point, Katra started joking about the old horror movie “Children of the Corn”. Then, literally 2 minutes later, we drove past this sign:

A disassembled wind turbine waiting to be installed. It's hard to see, but that is a very long flatbed trailer it is sitting on.

Well, maybe not, but here’s a 360 degree panorama of our back yard as of June 2009. You will need to have QuickTime installed in order to view this QTVR panorama.
