Ian woke up from his nap this afternoon while Kyle was at swimming practice. I made him a sandwich, went to the other room for a couple of minutes, and returned to find this:
Notice he did manage to eat a couple of bites before collapsing from exhaustion. Poor thing barely woke up when I carried him back upstairs, and ended up sleeping another three hours.
Ian had corn on the cob for the first time today. He was hesitant to try it at first (as usual) but once he tasted it he couldn’t get enough. Alas, he seems to be a little allergic to corn, so he may not be able to indulge in his new found love as much as he would like…
We have had problems the last couple of years with rabbits eating our flowers and vegetable plants. Last year they ate every single one of our edamame plants down to the ground, and this year they have decimated a bunch of annuals. They even dug a big hole under our back stoop to build a nest.
We finally got fed up and bought a no-kill trap, with the intention of trapping the rabbits and taking them far, far away where they can chew up someone else’s garden for a while.
Today we caught a small rabbit, which we believe to be from the litter that nested under our stoop. He is now most likely dining on someone’s petunias about 5 miles from here. I’m sure he was a bit put off by the whole thing, but all he needs to do is think of Hassenpfeffer – because that’s probably what would have happened to him if our neighbor had caught him instead of us…
Just when we thought it was safe to go out to our yard, we were invaded by PIRATES!
